Ms. Gray’s Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association was a big success. Students raised:

$2,910.00

Our school was among the top schools in our region for money raised.

STEM students wore red shirts on Jump Rope for Heart days, and had lots of fun participating.

Continue reading »]]> Ms. Nur read a letter at the PTA meeting last night:

On behalf of all teachers and staff and as a recipient of the flowers, gifts, loving notes, breakfast treats and “Way over the top” luncheons, I’d like to add my heartfelt appreciation to all the STEM parent volunteers that made us all feel so appreciated during that week.  The flowers were beautiful, the notes were heartfelt, the gifts were generous and the food was amazing.  And thanks to the people who prepared, served and cleaned up. You were truly wonderful.  We are blessed with an amazing group of parent volunteers at STEM.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to create such an incredible gift for us.

Dear Parents and Families:

Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can influence the most.

We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read every day so they can lead better lives.

Our Scholastic Book Fair theme – Story Laboratory: Reading Gives You Super Power! – is part of an incredible energy source for reading that brings to school a wonderful selection of fun, engaging, and affordable books kids want to read. Giving kids access to good books and the opportunity to choose their own books will motivate them to read more. And like most acquired skills, the more kids practice reading, the better they’ll get.

Reading is vital to every child’s success, and raising kids as readers means getting involved while they’re young. Now is the time. Since there will never be a substitute for a parent’s direct involvement in his/her child’s education, please make plans to visit our Book Fair in the School Library, and check out our online fair!

Dear Parents/Guardians-
Red Shirt Day in P.E!

In honor of Jump-rope for Heart, and being Heart Heroes, I am asking students to bring or wear a red shirt to P.E. class either this Friday (5/17) or Monday (5/20) depending when they have P.E. We will be taking a class picture at the end of the class with he/she’s shirt and jump-rope. The shirt needs to have no graphics on it, but it can be turn inside out for it to be a plain red shirt. No worries if you don’t have a red shirt because I have red pennies he/she can wear. Here are the days I have your son/daughter in P.E.:

ALSO, the Jump-rope for Heart fundraiser packets is due this Friday, May 17, 2013.  My goal for the school is to raise $2500. This averages out to be $10 per student.

Seeking Volunteers for our Story Laboratory

Dear Parents and Families,

The Scholastic Book Fair will be at our school June 6th-7th. A special family event is scheduled for the evening of June 6th.

The exciting theme for your spring 2013 Book Fair is Story Laboratory: Reading Gives You Super Power! Your Book Fair is an incredible energy source for reading, and volunteers are the catalyst for a successful Book Fair. We hope you will share your talents and join us as we help students discover the power of reading.

If you have some time to help us conduct the Book Fair, please email Wendy Warborg with the date and time you would like to help out (see details below). There will also be a volunteer form going out in Kid Mail soon.
